Week 1 in Review

We have had a fantastic first week here at the blog. On behalf of all of the authors, thank you so much for the support. We hope to keep producing high quality work on the topic.

Personally I wanted to say thank you to Eric Wittenberg and John Cummings. Without their support, many of you would not have found your way here. Both men have great blogs. Eric’s blog is
http://civilwarcavalry.com/. John’s blog is http://spotsylvaniacw.blogspot.com/. Check them out if you haven’t had the chance.

Recap of the Week:

Daniel Davis led off strong with a great post on George Custer. Dan’s post was followed up by Kristopher White’s post on the death of Stonewall Jackson. Chris Mackowski took us on a stroll through Bennett Place. Kristopher White returned and began a five-part series on the bombardment and looting of Fredericksburg. Matt Stanley brought great insight to the Civil War, Civil Rights, and the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial.

Soon we will have part two of the Fredericksburg series. Daniel Davis has some great information on the 1st Massachusetts Cavalry at Aldie. Chris Mackowski will be exploring the Carolina coast’s. Zac Cowsert will make his first post; Zac is a great young historian at Fredericksburg and Spotsylvania National Military Park.

There will be much more to come over the next few weeks and months, so please keep stopping by. Tell your friends and colleagues!

  1. You’re very welcome. I wouldn’t have said those things if I didn’t mean them.

The downside of all of this, of course, is that you’ve now set the bar very high for yourselves…..
