“You Stink!” Blog

This is very off the topic, but our good friend Eric Wittenberg has started a new blog. You Stink! is a blog dedicated to Eric’s and Michael Aubrecht’s new book entitled You Stink! Major League Baseball’s Terrible Teams and Pathetic Players.

Pirates history display at the Senator John Heinz History Center in Pittsburgh.

Those who know me well know that I am, sadly, a Pittsburgh Pirates fan. I have endured nearly two decades of terrible teams and losing seasons. It still hurts to see the picture of Atlanta Brave (former Pirate) Sid Bream slide across home plate on October 14, 1992 to defeat the Pirates 3-2 in the National League Championship Series. Bream, with no speed at all, beat out a poor throw from left fielder Barry Bonds. Too bad Bonds wasn’t on steroids yet– otherwise we would have seen extra innings, and perhaps a World Series.

This new blog and book is a must-read for any baseball or Pirates fan. Even if you are not a baseball fan, pass the word to those that are—they will not be disappointed.

  1. Sounds like an interesting read–being an Orioles fan, I can kinda relate, we are going on 15 years of losing baseball–kind of reminds me of a shirt I saw in a mall in Pittsburgh a few years ago, it read; “Pittsburgh baseball rebuilding since 1992″

  2. Thanks for the plug Kris. Yes…there are multiple Pirates teams (@ Phill and the Orioles) included. The book is really a celebration of a game that is about much more than just wins. I’ll be updating the blog weekly and Eric and I plan to do lots of press and talks on this one. Stay tuned.

Also, as a Pirates fan had to leave a comment after seeing the Sid Bream Photo… I had tickets to at least two games for that world series – which of course never happened… However, despite the bad teams (past and present), three WS championships in my lifetime- 1960 (but only seven at the time), 1971 (when the rest of the world find out what Clemente was all about) and 1979 (Pops and family)… Continue the good work on this site/blog, also looking foward to Eric’s book…
