I thank God for all I have enjoyed and the preservation of my life and also for the hardships and the disappointments I have met.
Anniversaries create opportunities to reflect on what has happened over the past year, just as Union soldier Cyrus Boyd did in the above quote. One year ago I was welcomed as a full-time author for the Emerging Civil War, a venture that celebrated its one year anniversary in August. Just like Cyrus my year has had its share of ups and downs, wonderful memories and heartbreaking realities, dreams threatened and new journeys begun. And just like Cyrus I can be thankful for both the good and the bad, for all the memories that have shaped my year.
And I am thankful that ECW is a part of those memories. Over the past year this blog has provided opportunities to grow as a writer and a historian, to explore new ideas and topics, and connect with people as passionate about this subject as I am. I am thankful for the advice of my fellow authors as well as our readers, and I hope this venture continues to grow and see many anniversaries in the future.
