    This is one of my favorite battlefields. I am touched by the story of Custer visiting his dying rebel friend there. Thanks for sharing it!

      Yes-and it is a tremendous example of how the friendships forged at West Point in the antebellum years were strong enough to endure four years of brutal warfare.
