Special Announcement: Speaker Series for Second Annual ECW Symposium

Last week, we announced our keynote speaker for the Second Annual Emerging Civil War Symposium. Dana Shoaf will be presenting “Give Them the Cold Steel (or not): A Military and Cultural History of the Bayonet.”

Today, we are pleased to announce our speaker series. The Speaker Series will begin on Friday evening and will be followed by a panel discussion on the war in 1865. The series will resume Saturday morning and continue through the day.

The speakers and their topics are:

Daniel T. Davis:  One of the Longest and Most Important Marches in a Civilized Country: The Memory and Civil War Legacy of William Tecumseh Sherman

Chris Kolakowski: 1865: An End and a Beginning

Dave Powell: The Legacy of John Bell Hood: The Confederacy’s Most Controversial Commander

Meg Thompson: A Legacy of Caring: Dr. Letterman and Battlefield Medicine
