What are some topics that you don’t see covered when you go to historic sites?
One rarely sees much pertaining to family life. This probably isn’t appropriate for a battle site, but for all the houses on other historic sites, it would be nice to get a glimpse of what the disrupted life might have been like.
Meg, I agree. Actually the civilian experience really can’t be separated from the military events. They are intertwined, I think, on many levels.
How soldiers treated civilians and their government’s policies reflect their attitudes on the conduct of the war. At a more personal level, surely those soldiers thought about their own families…. and if they were on home ground, it might have been their own families
