I am currently writing a biography of Colonel Elmer Ellsworth. I am interested in adding something to the Personalities Section of this blog. Please let me know what you need, and I shall provide it. Thank you. If you wish to check my writer’s blog, it is elmerellsworth.blogspot.com. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Sincerely, Meg Thompson

Greatly enjoy Emerging Civil War. I just noticed this AM- 30 Aug 12- that you were
working on a bio of Elmer Ellsworth. Sarah Purcell of Grinnell College, Grinnell, Iowa,
has researched Ellsworth and might be interested in your work. Purcell spoke about
Ellsworth at our Roundtable meeting in May 2009. (The Roundtable is comprised of
members from the Cedar Valley, basically Cedar Falls and Waterloo, IA) I’m pasting
in contact info on Purcell:

I, too, have written the book “Cannoneers, To Your Posts!” that is the story of Battery B, 1st PA Artillery at Gettysburg. The book is published by Mechlingbooks, has received a favorable review from Blue & Gray Magazine, and can also be purchased on Amazon. I wrote an article for “Gettysburg Magazine” in the January, 2007 issue as well that also deals with Battery B and Col. Wainwright’s rendition of events during the artillery duel between his guns and those of Latimer on the afternoon of July 2. For those having an interest in Battery B or the Gettysburg Campaign in general and who might be familiar with my book or the article, I would like to hear from you and get your opinions, especially with respect to the “Gettysburg Magazine” article.

Our Sons of Union Veterans Camp in Rockwood, Somerset County PA, is interested in a speaker for next year. Would you have an interest in speaking to this group?
