10,000 Posts: Kevin Donovan Dips into the ECW Archives
Here are my favorite posts of all time written by his ECW colleagues:
John Buford, Billy Burke, and the Decision that United Them Across Nearly 140 Years by Ryan Quint, posted on September 11, 2024. This still brings tears.
“I Heard the Bells On Christmas Day…” by Meg Groeling, posted on December 13, 2011. A poignant story bringing to light the hidden history of a traditional Christmas song. And beautifully written.
The Cause of the Civil War was Slavery by Chris Mackowski, posted on December 28, 2023. The link to primary sources is incredibly useful and illustrates how ECW’s Blog is far more than interesting but unsupported musings. It sets itself apart from other blogs as a real resource for serious historians.
Here are my favorite posts that I’ve written:
Sherlock Holmes vs. The KKK: Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, The Civil War and Slavery, posted on January 6, 2025. I enjoyed the opportunity to link two of my loves—America’s Defining Event and The Great Detective.
What a Civil War POW’s Envelope Can Tell Us, posted on February 18, 2026. It was rewarding, and great fun, to share my own historical detective results.
