Sheritta Bitikofer

Sheritta Bitikofer is a lifelong student of history. From an early age, her parents indulged her interests by buying her first history books and taking her to museums and historic sites around the south. Her attraction to the Civil War began in middle school when her history teacher read from a copy of “The Unknown Civil War” by Webb Garrison. Fascinated by the stories of the soldiers and civilians, she became hooked. Later in school, she discovered the joys of writing fiction. It only made sense to combine her two passions and write historical fiction. Since 2016, she’s published over a dozen historical fiction novels and novellas that cover many eras of history from Tudor England to the American Prohibition, each one playing its part in refining her research skills.

In 2018, she made her first “campaign” to Virginia and fell in love with Civil War battlefields. With her enthusiasm for the Civil War era rekindled, Sheritta began traveling and learning as much as possible. She’s currently in pursuit of her undergraduate degree in American History with American Public University and is considering plans for a graduate program in the future. In the meantime, she writes about her adventures and studies in her personal Civil War blog, “Belle on the Battlefield.” Her primary study interests include Civil War medicine, the experiences of the common soldier and women during the war, and antebellum society. She’s also heavily involved in her local Civil War Roundtable groups in Mobile and Pensacola.

When she’s not on the battlefield or nose-deep in a book, Sheritta enjoys visiting coffeeshops with her husband in Florida, writing novels, and binge-watching her favorite shows.
