Symposium Takeaway: Phill Greenwalt
We still have a few reflections trickling in from folks in the wake of our 2015 Symposium. Phill Greenwalt, who spoke on Jubal Early and the Legacy of the Lost Cause, offers his takeaway:
“It took me a little while to put into words the emotions and highlights of the symposium.
“Last year the symposium was a great experience, from having the chance to present to listening to the great lectures by my fellow historians. This year, with such a sensitive and relevant topic in our society, the symposium built on the great success of last year. Bringing together old friends, new friends, and such a great cadre of fellow Civil War enthusiasts were such highlights. Being able to present a talk on such a pertinent issue related to the legacy of the Civil War, and seeing the positive reaction and great conversation and debate that ensued, really left a positive vibe for me personally.
“When two days can go by in a blink of an eye, one can only conclude that it was a great overall conference.
“Until next year, friends and fellow Civil War historians! Or, if anyone ventures to South Florida, stop in and say ‘hi’ to yours truly at Shark Valley in the Everglades!
