ECW Hats: The Perfect Stocking Stuffer

It’s common at this time of year to say “Such-and-Such makes the perfect stocking stuffer!” For instance, “A ticket to the Sixth Annual Emerging Civil War Symposium at Stevenson Ridge makes the perfect stocking stuffer!” You see the phrase everywhere.

But is it true? Can virtually everything be a perfect stocking stuffer?

I decided to test that proposition with our latest bit of ECW swag: “Our new Emerging Civil War hats make the perfect stocking stuffer!”

It comes as no surprise to those who know me well that my Christmas stocking has the Grinch on it (not because I’m grouchy but because it’s my favorite book). I could not get the ECW hat to fit ON the Grinch, but I was able to fit the hat into the stocking in such a way that it did partially stuff the stocking AND hang out of the top just enough to be conveniently photographable.

Does the hat make the perfect stocking stuffer, though?

You can scrunch the hat up to get it to fit inside without really damaging the hat—although if you scrunch it too much, you risk creasing the bill, so be careful. The malleability of the hat means you have more room to stuff other stocking stuffers into the stocking. That can be a negative if you’re looking for something that takes up space, but it can be a positive if you want to stuff more stuff into the stocking.
