2018 Year in Review: #3
We already had one book review make the top-ten: James Epperson’s review of Ron Chernow’s Grant. But another book has gained a lot of traction this year within the Civil War community, and its ECW review comes in as the third-most-read post from 2018:
3) Book Review: “The War Outside My Window: The Civil War Diary of LeRoy Wiley Gresham, 1860-1865” by Meg Groeling (Apr. 13, 2018)
12-year-old Gresham was the youngest son of an affluent slaveholding family in Macon, Georgia. Through her work on the diary editor Janet Elizabeth Croon “has given the reader much more than just a glimpse into the past,” Groeling wrote.
Thank you for the recognition of this work. LeRoy’s story is one that needs to be told. All of us involved thank you!
