Introducing Saving History Saturday

Since the beginning of Preservation News on Saturday mornings, Emerging Civil War has tackled some of preservation’s breaking news, from the formation of the American Battlefield Trust to bipartisan legislation. It has been an honor to share the latest news in the preservation world with ECW’s followers.

Today, we introduce Saving History Saturday – a chance for us to share not just preservation news, but stories, museums, and projects that are saving Civil War history around us. We want to tell you about the movers and shakers in the preservation field, while also showcasing the material culture and battlefield sites dedicated preservationists have saved. Through a change in name and focus, we hope to provide more engaging and creative content to you each Saturday morning.

We think this quote from Mike Wolfe of American Pickers about artifacts says it best: “We love the story behind it, the history within it, and the patina on it.”
