Symposium Spotlight: Brian Matthew Jordan
Welcome to the third installment of our 2022 Emerging Civil War Symposium Spotlight Series: Each week we will introduce you to each of our outstanding speakers that will be presenting at the Eighth Annual Emerging Civil War Symposium August 5 – 7, 2022. Today’s featured speaker is Brian Matthew Jordan.
Dr. Brian Matthew Jordan is Associate Professor of Civil War History and Chair of the History Department at Sam Houston State University. He is the author or editor of five books, including Marching Home: Union Veterans and Their Unending Civil War (which was one of three finalists for the 2016 Pulitzer Prize in History), and A Thousand May Fall: An Immigrant Regiment’s Civil War (a main selection of the Military History Book Club). Since 2014, Brian has served as the Book Review Editor for The Civil War Monitor. He has delivered invited talks and battlefield tours to audiences in twenty-five states. His more than 125 articles, reviews, and essays have appeared in a bevy of books and scholarly journals. Brian earned his M.A., M.Phil., and Ph.D. in History from Yale. An Ohio native, he lives in southeast Texas.
