Symposium Spotlight: 2024’s Who’s Who of Presenters and Special Guests (so you can see what you’re missing by not attending!)
We’ll soon begin rolling out details about our line-up of speakers for this summer’s 11th Annual Emerging Civil War Symposium at Stevenson Ridge. The event, held in Spotsylvania, Virginia, August 1–3, 2025, will focus on “The Cities of War.” You can order your tickets here.
Before we start hearing from this year’s participants, though, we want to invite you to spend some time with some of the folks from last year’s event. Our social media team conducted a series of interviews with some of our speakers and specials guests so folks could get a taste of what we had going on (and what folks were missing if they didn’t attend). You can watch the playlist here on the ECW YouTube page.
You’ll hear short interviews with:
- Neil Chatelain
- Dan Davis
- Gina Denham of the Monuments for UK Veterans of the American Civil War Association
- Zack Fry
- John Hennessy, special guest speaker
- Patrick Kelly-Fischer
- Drew Gruber of Civil War Trails
- Steward Henderson
- Brian Matthew Jordan
- Chris Mackowski
- Derek Maxfield
- Hampton Newsome, two-time winner of the ECW Book Award
- Jonathan Noyalas, keynote speaker
- Rob Orrison
- Ryan Quint
- Joe Ricci
- Tim Talbott
- Brian Steel Wills, keynote speaker
Plus, you’ll hear from Scott Hartwig as he accepts the 2024 ECW Book Award. You can meet ECW’s Executive Administrator, Josh Frye. And you can get the behind-the-scenes story of the origin of the ECW Symposium.
With thanks to Darren Rawlings, Tyler McGraw, and Evan Portman for their work in front of and behind the camera.
