Symposium Spotlight: Friction in the High Commands
We’re pleased to share details about two more of our speakers for this upcoming summer’s 13th Annual Emerging Civil War Symposium at Stevenson Ridge, August, 7–9, 2026.
Our early bird price of $275 remains in effect through December 31. After that, our regular ticket price will $325. You can find out more, and order tickets, by visiting our Symposium page.
We teased part of our line-up on November 26 (be teased here), and last week, we told you more about the keynote addresses by Harold Holzer and Craig Symonds (review those details here). Today, we’re pleased to reveal two more pieces of the puzzle:
- “Friction in Command”: Personal and Professional Conflicts Between the Union Commanders During the Gettysburg Campaign by Tim Smith, director of education at Gettysburg History
- “Heavens, How They Hate Him”: Braxton Bragg and the Army of Tennessee’s High Command by Kristopher D. White, chief historian and co-founder of Emerging Civil War
(Originally, Kris was going to talk about Warren vs. Sheridan, but our list of proposals was eastern-heavy and Union-heavy, so Kris offered to switch it up to give us better balance. We’re going to save Warren vs. Sheridan for spot down the line.)
