Year-End Giving to Support ECW
‘Tis the time of the year that your email inboxes are probably being filled with appeals from not-for-profits: “Make your tax-deductible year-end gift now!”
You probably got a lot of those emails back in November, too, in advance of Giving Tuesday. By that point of the month—on the heels of Black Friday, Small-Business Saturday, and Cyber Monday—people are pretty tapped out, and the holiday shopping season is really just getting underway. It’s like someone invented the twisted idea of dropping a whole bunch of nonprofits together in the Thunderdome and told them to fight over a twenty-dollar bill someone accidentally dropped on the dirt floor that might otherwise go toward someone’s stocking stuffer.
ECW doesn’t send out solicitations because we don’t want to add to the fund-raising scrum.
That said, as an IRS-recognized 501(c)3 not-for-profit, Emerging Civil War does accept donations. We use those gifts to pay for our web-hosting fees, newsletter costs, software subscriptions, and other administrative costs. That’s the logistical backbone that allows us to do the cool history stuff that we do, and it allows us to share all our blog content for free.
If you’re interested in supporting our public history mission and promoting emerging voices in the field, we appreciate your willingness to make a contribution. You can do so here.
Thank you, and happy New Year!
