2025 Year in Review #3: LaSalle Corbell Pickett
People love their favorite Civil War stories, even if those stories have a questionable relationship to the actual facts behind those stories. Often, people don’t even realize how those stories came to be or who perpetuated those stories—or why they perpetuated them.
At #3 on our top-ten list of most-read posts written in 2025, guest author Lucas Simmons explored the back-story of the myth-building around Confederate General George Pickett: “LaSalle Corbell Pickett: ‘Child-Bride of the Confederacy’ to ‘Civil War Fabricator’” published on April 21, 205.
Lucas holds a B.A. in history from Southern Virginia University and an M.A. in history education from Grand Canyon University. He enjoys learning about the Civil War, especially the Valley and Overland Campaigns. When he is not glued to a book or writing project he enjoys swimming, hiking, and giving tours of his native Shenandoah Valley.
