The last week of summer has been very busy heading into Labor Day Weekend. Highlighting our posts was our first formal announcement concerning the Fifth Annual Emerging Civil War Symposium, scheduled for August 3-5, 2018 at Stevenson Ridge. You may click on the links below to read the posts.

Ryan Quint wrote about 1862  trips to the Manassas battlefield. He also reviewed Death of An Assassin: The True Story of the German Murderer Who Died Defending Robert E. Lee.

Dan Davis concluded his series on Jeb Stuart’s operations in August 1862 and offered his thoughts on the controversy surrounding Confederate monuments.

Kevin Pawlak kicked off a series that will run each evening throughout September in observance of the 155th Anniversary of the Antietam Campaign.

Dan Welch highlighted a preservation opportunity on the Upperville battlefield.

Steve Davis wrote a post on Great Moments in Southern History.

Chris Mackowski discussed the media of the 1860s.

We also posted our upcoming talks for September and October.

Guest author Jon-Erik Gilot returned with a post on one of the worst political generals of the Civil War. Frank Jastrzembski also returned with a post on George McClellan’s post-war writings.
