ECW Week in Review Dec. 24-31

As 2017 comes to a close, ECW observed some of our annual traditions both on Christmas and in the week leading up to New Year’s Day.

Happy New Year!!!

One of our Christmas traditions centers on a famous poem and author Meg Groeling’s article on its place in Civil War history. Chris Mackowksi also gave us a view of holly on the Chancellorsville battlefield.

Like many of our readers who will countdown to midnight tonight, we spent the week counting down the most read posts of 2017 along with other ECW highlights. While the countdown will continue into the coming week, you may catch up on it here in our Year in Review.

We also shared Preservation News this week as the Central Virginia Battlefields Trust named a new Executive Director.

Our friends at C-SPAN also continued their coverage of presentations from the Fourth Annual Emerging Civil War Symposium. And don’t forget, our Early Bird Rate for the Fifth Annual Emerging Civil War Symposium expires tonight! You may purchase your tickets here.
