The Quiet After the Storm

You’ve probably noticed that it’s been mighty quiet around these parts this week. Please pardon us—we had a little company over the weekend:

Symposium 2016 Full House

Half of the room at the Riddick House during Saturday morning’s presentations

We had an over-packed house for the Third Annual Emerging Civil War Symposium over the weekend, and we’re all still recovering. Whew!

We’ll give you a full run-down of events later this week as we pull ourselves back to life!

For those who weren’t able to make it, C-SPAN was there Friday night and Saturday afternoon. We’ll announce those episodes as soon as C-SPAN lets us know they’re ready to air.

What a wonderful weekend experience. Our thanks to the whole ECW team for the excellent organization, delicious food and warm, welcoming hosts. You all did a top-notch job. This was our first time attending, and I’m sure it won’t be the last.

  2. Rob Wilson says:

Ditto to everything Janet said. It was my first time at the conference too. I would only add it was great to meet so many people with such interest in and knowledge of the Civil War: the organizers and the speakers (very accessible, which is not always the case at this kind of event) and the others sitting with me in the audience. I loved my raffle prize too… first lottery (other than the Vietnam era draft lottery) that I ever won!

  3. joe truglio says:

It was my first time as well. Kudos to all. I’ll be back. Have already recruited two others to join me.

    • That’s kind of funny, Joe, because to me you’re one of the ECW “old-timers.” You’ve been with us as a reader of the blog almost from the very beginning. We’re all luckier for knowing you!

  4. excellent learning venue .just got back to buffalo and ready to turn around and come back .
My thanks to every one who was involved in ANYway from top to bottom thank you .

  5. Thank you to everyone that attended. We are so pleased that the event went off so well. We are really looking forward to seeing everyone next year at Stevenson Ridge.

  6. I truly enjoyed myself. I liked all the positive energy and enthusiasm from both presenters and attendees. The chance to hear and talk to so many of you was an additional plus. I’ll see you next year.
