The Year in Review 2016: #6

Year in Review-Header

Chris Kolakowski’s “Civil War Echoes” posts remain among one of our most popular features here at ECW. By day, Chris keeps his feet firmly entrenched in World War II as the executive director of the Douglas MacArthur Memorial in Norfolk, Virginia. But his first love was the Civil War, and his position at the MacArthur Memorial helps him see the ripples of that earlier conflict as it echoes forward through time, throughout subsequent eras of military history.

This year, Chris has written about Civil War echoes in the Canadian national anthem, the ships at Pearl Harbor, Flying Tigers, Burmese Guerrillas, and more. His most popular echo of the year ripples back to Lee’s Old War Horse, James Longstreet (who’s already made an appearance in the top ten at #9).

Coming in at #6: “Civil War Echoes: Mrs. Longstreet and the B-29” by Chris Kolakowski, originally posted on July 19, 2016.
