ECW Week in Review 18-25 March

It was another busy week here at Emerging Civil War. We continued to highlight Women’s History Month along with a major preservation victory at Spotsylvania Court House. You may click on the links below to read each post.

This past week, in observance of Women’s History Month, Editor-in-Chief Chris Mackowski interviewed Emma Murphy, a Park Guide at the Andrew Johnson National Historic Site. You may catch up on the entire interview here. Additionally, Dwight Hughes wrote about the Queen of the Delphine.

Earlier this week, the Central Virginia Battlefields Trust announced the preservation of over 14.4 acres at Spotsylvania. You may read more about this effort here. Consistent with the purchase, we offered commentary on the benefits of battlefield preservation to local communities in our weekly installment of Preservation News.

Meg Groeling’s work is featured in the latest issue of Artilleryman’s Magazine.

Chris Mackowski also shared a picture of the Catharine Furnace on the Chancellorsville battlefield.
