Saving History Saturday: Tennessee Battlefields Receive Grants For Preservation

Exciting preservation news appeared in the Nashville press early this week. Part of a $900,000 grand has been awarded to Civil War sites in Tennessee for battlefield preservation. In total, the grant will fund the opportunities to save approximately 111 acres of threatened, hallowed ground across the Volunteer State.
According to the reporting:

Shiloh National Military Park will be receiving $51,000 to help purchase 53 acres of privately owned land inside the park, according to the release.

Parkers Crossroads will also be receiving $125,000 for the purchase of a half-parcel acre to help preserve the historic crossroad itself, according to the release.

Additionally, Civil War sites in Hardin, Henderson, Rutherford, and Hamilton Counties are set to receive grant funding through the Tennessee Civil War Sites Preservation Fund.
