Saving History Saturday: Georgia Trust For Historic Preservation Announces Awards

Earlier in April 2020 The Georgia Trust for Historic Preservation announced the recipients of its annual awards for preservation and restoration.

The Atlanta History Center received an Award for Excellence in Restoration for their conservation work and new display of the Battle of Atlanta Cyclorama. According to the Trust, “an accurate restoration project depicts the form, features and character of a historic building as it appeared at a particular period of time. Restoration requires sensitive upgrading of mechanical systems and other code-required work to make the site functional.”

Several other sites with Civil War or antebellum ties also received awards, and complete details and photos are found in this official press release: https://www.georgiatrust.org/our-programs/preservation-awards/
