Grant Cottage Extends Its Season and Gets Ready for Some Big News
Grant Cottage has extended its season this year—just in time to help them celebrate some exciting news. With the autumn leaves still in gorgeous color, it’s an especially beautiful time to visit.
Grant Cottage—located atop Mt. McGregor in Wilton, NY, just north of Saratoga Springs—is the building where Ulysses S. Grant spent the last six weeks of his life. In the final stages of terminal throat cancer, Grant raced to finish his memoirs.
Grant Cottage Operations Manager Ben Kemp joins Chris Mackowski to talk about recent developments at the Cottage that will make the site an even more important national landmark (hint, hint!).
Grant Cottage is a New York State Historic Site but is operated by The Friends of Grant Cottage. Their season usually runs through Columbus Day weekend, but this year, they site will be open Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays through November 1. Because of COVID restrictions, house tours are limited by reservation only, but the grounds remain open for all visits and include a free downloadable audio tour. Click here for visitation details.

This is one of the most wonderful places I have visited. It is peaceful, beautiful, all the “fuls” you can think of. I can imagine living there! All it really needs is a kitty or a faithful doggo to pad around with. Heaven, I tell you!
