Saving History Saturday: 407 Acres to Preserve in the Western Theater

American Battlefield Trust is fundraising to preserve 407 acres across four battlefields in the Western Theater. The acreage is at Corinth, Champion Hill, Chattanooga, and Port Hudson, and donations will be matched $9.27 to $1 with the goal to raise $307,450.

In a recent letter, President David Duncan explained the significance of this preservation opportunity: “At each battle, Union forces carried the day, and the cumulative weight of these victories — like dominoes slowly falling — eventually led to the end of the American Civil War itself.”
