Year in Review 2021: New Members

In 2021, Emerging Civil War welcomed two new members. You’ve likely seen some of their content this year, and we’re looking forward to reading more!

Sheritta Bitikofer joined us in July. Fiction author, blogger at “Belle on the Battlefield” and currently pursuing a degree in American History, she is heavily involved in her local Civil War Roundtable groups in Mobile and Pensacola. We’re very happy to present her work here as she presents unique new perspectives and stories, such as in Sugar Kettle Art.

Neil P. Chatelain joined us at the end of August. A US Navy Veteran and holding a MA in history from the University of Louisiana-Monroe, a MEd in history and social studies curriculum and instruction from the University of Houston, and a BA in history and political science from the University of New Orleans, several of his posts have focused on the naval aspects of the war, such as the thought-provoking Unexpected Challenges of California Officers Going East by Sea in 1861.
