Beard-O-Rama: Jenkins vs. Green

Week Two of the Beard-O-Rama kicks off with a heavyweight match-up: Confederate Brig. Gen. Albert G. Jenkins (left) versus Confederate Col. John Shackleford “Shack” Green (right) of the 6th Virginia Volunteer Cavalry.

Remember, this is a bracket to determine the best Civil War beard, not a popularity contest about who was better. Cast your facial hair vote by typing in the name of the officer with the best beard in the comments section below. Feel free to defend your choice. You can also cast a vote on the ECW Facebook page.

  1. Whoa! Either dude loses a pound or two if he shaves. Jenkins for the win, with his beard’s odd smoothness.

  2. Looks to me that Jenkin’s and Green’s beards are just about the same. I will have to give my vote to Green because his seems a bit longer.

  3. As mentioned couple times before, I vote for Green because of the wavy ridges on the side of his beard.

  4. You can’t fool me! That Jenkins beard has been retouched—call the fashion police!

  5. My vote is for Green. As an aside, how do either men eat soup? Can their beards act as substitute napkins?

    1. My dad called facial hair “soup strainers “ but I think in this case it’s more of a massive growing colander. Green wins

  6. Boy! This one is tough. Both have similar lengths. The image of General Jenkins appears to be a drawing whereas Colonel Green’s is obviously a photo, making direct comparisons difficult.

I keep looking at Colonel Green’s photo trying to see if there are ties over his ears because, to me, his beard looks fake compared to his hair! lol!

    I’m going with General Jenkins.
