Beard-O-Rama Bonus: Postwar Beards
We are gearing up for tomorrow’s Championship in the first-ever Ambrose Burnside Memorial Beard-o-Rama Bracket. Before we reveal the winner’s of this week’s two Final-Four match-ups, we could not let the Beard-o-Rama pass without acknowledging some of our favorite all-time great postwar beards.
John C. Breckinridge

Jubal Early

James Longstreet

William Mahone
Tune in tomorrow for our Championship match-up!
Very interesting- Mahone never really changed from the war years very much! Probably wouldn’t have recognized Breckinridge….
I hadn’t realized Breckinridge grew out his beard as much as this portrait depicts him. Longstreet’s post-war beard changed his appearance greatly, and he looked like someone else who was famous…but that someone I cannot place. Suggestions, anyone?
Breck, a fellow Centre College Alum!
BTW, Longstreet looks like a less dim witted version of Franz Josef I of Austria!
Longstreet’s post war facial hair made it difficult to recognize him. Completely different look.
