  1. Tough to narrow down to one, but the National Civil War Museum in Harrisburg gets an honorable mention!

  2. The newly renovated visitor center at Fort Fisher State Historic Site has been up there for me recently!

  3. (Was). I always enjoyed the not-so-modern Confederate Museum in Richmond. What artifacts they had! I worry about all of those rare items, and hope that they are extant. I am sure the display of those treasures is on a rotational basis at best, likely in storage in a hidden basement. And, of course stepping out of that museum seeing the White House of the Confederacy was rather evocative.

I also like the Museum at Market Hall in Charleston, S.C. , in yet another historical setting. And, for a student of Antebellum Politics , seeing John C. Calhoun’s bed was rather awesome.

  4. Vicksburg Civil War Museum. Amazing place and Charles does a fantastic job. So many to choose from but this place really stood out.
