  1. McClellan’s Own Story. I have given up waiting for the movie and will just read the book.

Also, tickets to ECW’s Civil War Symposium of course.

  2. That everyone who studies the Civil War wakes up to the fact that BG John Bell Hood was half a mile west of Fox’s Gap on September 14, 1862, that the Confederates were surrounded on three sides, that the Confederates lost 1,000 dead at Fox’s and Turner’s Gap, and that Abraham Lincoln issued his Preliminary Emancipation Proclamation because of the overwhelming Union victory at South Mountain, not Antietam!!!!

  3. Maybe check out Perryville. We were in Memphis and New Orleans earlier this year but didn’t get to check either place out in depth. That might be an option.

  4. 1. Richmond Views the West: Politics and Perceptions in the Confederate Capital, Larry Daniel
    2. This Terrible Sound: The Battle of Chickamauga, Peter Cozzens

  5. Already received – my wife gave me a near-mint copy, with perfect dust jacket, of William C. Davis’ magnificent biography of John Cabell Breckinridge, ‘Breckinridge: Statesman, Soldier, Symbol’ – signed by the author. Settling in for hundreds of pages of wonderful reading, while the kids run around playing with their toys, screaming like savages. Amongst them, though, were plenty of books – and ZERO video games or anything digital…

  6. A wall to wall bookshelf for all of my Civil War book collection (I’ve already had the oak wood shelving delivered).
