Symposium Spotlight: Civil War Roundtable Congress Workshop

In conjunction with the 12th Annual Emerging Civil War Symposium at Stevenson Ridge, the Civil War Roundtable Congress will be holding a morning conversation with Civil War Roundtables.

The Symposium will be held August 7–9, 2026, at Stevenson Ridge in Spotsylvania, Virginia. On Friday morning, from 9:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m., the Congress will meet with roundtables to talk about some of the roundtables’ critical initiatives. “We seek to understand why some initiatives succeed while others fail,” says CWRT Congress President Mike Movius. “This will be an interactive discussion not a lecture.”

What did you try? What was the reaction? Did members jump in to help? Was the outcome expected or unexpected? Was the success or failure a matter of organizational culture, the approach, who is the initiator was, or something else?

This will be an invaluable time of networking, sharing perspectives, and having fun. And it will be a great way to get supercharged before the main ECW event. Every CWRT member or prospective member is invited.

“ECW knows that a healthy roundtable community is good for the field and good for us, which is why we’re pleased to partner with the Congress to provide this forum for discussion and networking,” says ECW Editor-in-Chief Chris Mackowski.

The event is free. (Workshop attendees who intend to attend the ECW Symposium will still need a Symposium ticket. Symposium tickets—along with information about this year’s line-up—can be purchased here.
