  1. To stop asking Rosecrans for reinforcements on the morning of September 20, 1863. It inadvertently opens the door for Longstreet’s wing. You can hang on with what you’ve got.

  2. Be more hospitable to Grant when he arrives in Chattanooga in October 1863.

  3. Bring better PR guys on board to improve the narrative on his valuable service to the army and the nation.

  4. if you’re offered command of the army of the Ohio while still in Kentucky, accept it. Don’t be loyal ti Buell. You’re being offered it for a reason

  5. if you’re offered command of The Army of the Ohio in Kentucky accept it. Don’t be loyal to Buell, you’re being offered the command for a reason.

  6. Tell Sherman that you and the AOC will undertake the Snake Creek Gap operation that you proposed. Maybe a better outcome than with MacPherson.

  7. Don’t forget to tell all of the 21st Ohio of the retreat from Horseshoe Ridge on the extreme right of the Snodgrass Hill defense on the second day of the Battle of Chickamauga. Many didn’t get the message and continued to fight with their Colt Revolving Rifles until they ran out of ammunition for their rapid firing weapons and were surrounded and captured.

  8. You will die in 1870, so don’t destroy your papers and act to preserve your voice/documents for future generations.

    1. I’m with you, however, how can he do that while maintaining the privacy he fought so hard to maintain?

  9. Make sure you get those pontoons into the proper places in December, 1864. You have already won the most crushing battle of the war at Nashville and shattered the Army of Tennessee; you now have it within your power to annihilate it.
