ECW has welcomed in the New Year. We’ve had a busy first week of 2018 with a number of fantastic posts. We finished up our Year in Review 2017 with our most-read post and had a special announcement regarding our upcoming site migration, which is now scheduled for the week of January 15. Chris Mackowski interviewed Dave Ruth, the retiring Superintendent of the Richmond National Battlefield.

Speaking of Richmond National Battlefield, Doug Crenshaw shared news regarding an ongoing effort by the Civil War Trust to preserve land at Cold Harbor.

We also launched a series of posts titled Symposium Spotlight which will detail the speakers and their topics for this year’s Fifth Annual Emerging Civil War Symposium. This past week we profiled Bert Dunkerly. Symposium tickets are available here.

In keeping with our Symposium’s theme of Turning Points of the Civil War, Dwight Hughes discussed the Emancipation Proclamation.
