In August, Dave Powell kicked off an extended series about Lt. Gen. James Longstreet, the “Old Warhorse” of Robert E. Lee, who went west to aid in the ailing Confederate effort in Tennessee. Longstreet performed well at Chickamauga, but then went on to tarnish his reputation by getting embroiled in army politics and then by performing poorly at Knoxville.
