ECW Week in Review Mar. 11-18

March presses on here at ECW. We continued our observance of Women’s History Month and featured our last Symposium Speaker (tickets are still available here). You may click on the links below to read each post.

This past week, we featured an interview by Editor-in-Chief Chris Mackowski with author, former President of the Society of Civil War Historians and faculty member at Purdue University, Dr. Caroline Janney. You may catch up on the entire interview here.

Our Symposium Spotlight focused on Rea Redd.

We went on the road with our friends at Civil War Trails to Scottsville, Virginia.

Edward Alexander shared a post on National Pie Day. He also wrote our ECW Weekender, a visit to the site of Lt. Gen. A.P. Hill’s death.

In observance of St. Patrick’s Day, we shared a piece on memory and memorials for Irish-Americans. St. Patrick’s Day 1863  was also a watershed for the Union cavalry in the East. Dan Davis shared his thoughts on the Battle of Kelly’s Ford.

In our weekly Preservation News, we shared information regarding a recent victory at Upperville.
