“I Heard The Bells”: An ECW Tradition
Every year, either on Christmas Day or Christmas Eve, we like to share an ECW tradition with our readers. In 2011 Meg Groeling wrote a lovely blog post about Henry W. Longfellow’s poem I Heard The Bells On Christmas Day and its direct connection to the Civil War. Later, the poem was set to music and is often listed in traditional Christmas and sometimes still sung in religious or historical settings.
We invite you to take a moment to read the original blog post and enjoy a moment of hope this holiday!
Then pealed the bells more loud and deep:
“God is not dead; nor doth He sleep!
The Wrong shall fail,
The Right prevail,
With peace on Earth, goodwill to men!
