I am researching the life of my great grandfather, Brigadier General Evander McIver Law. Although sporadically, I have been collecting references to him and his life for years, and now that I am getting serious about this project, I’d like to learn about any resources you folks know about his participation and leadership in the 5th Alabama Brigade, which I believe he “mustered.” He was a South Carolina native son, but wound up in Florida after the war, where he was instrumental in setting up the public education system and wrote for a newspaper in Bartow, I believe.
