What We’ve Learned: Introduction

In case you haven’t checked the calendar recently, 2020 is nearly finished and 2021 is ready to dawn. For the Civil War history crowd that means the 160th Anniversary of that conflict and all the social, political, and cultural changes it brought as America went through a major turning point.

Emerging Civil War is working on some commemorative features and series on the blog for the next few years, but before we launch into that, a few of us wanted to reflect back on the Sesquicentennial and all that has changed in the history field or in our personal understandings of the Civil War.

Over the next few days, we hope you’ll enjoy these backward glances in preparation for this next milestone anniversary.
