ECW on C-SPAN: Crenshaw and Dunkerly on Joe Johnston

Doug Crenshaw

C-SPAN’s coverage of the Seventh Annual Emerging Civil War Symposium at Stevenson Ridge continues this weekend. On Saturday, C-SPAN 2 will feature a talk about the fall of Joseph E. Johnston offered as a double-team by historians Doug Crenshaw and Bert Dunkerly. Bert and Doug not only recount the story of Johnston’s wounding at Seven Pines in May 1862, which set the stage for Johnston’s permanent replacement by Robert E. Lee, but also the subsequent ups and downs of Johnston as the war progressed. Originally one of the Confederacy’s great heroes for his victory at First Manassas, Johnston’s star dimmed as he engaged in ongoing feuding with Confederate President Jefferson Davis.

Doug’s and Bert’s talk will air on Saturday, October 30 at 3:05 p.m. and again on Sunday morning at 3:05 a.m.

After the talk airs, it will be available on C-SPAN’s webpage here:
