Question of the Week: 11/29-11/5/21
Tomorrow is Giving Tuesday, a day to support nonprofits and worthy causes at the beginning of the holiday season.
What are your favorite nonprofits or associations connected to Civil War education, preservation, public history etc.?
We’d love to see your shout-outs and get inspired!
Civil War Trust
Virginia Battlefield Trust
Blue and Gray Education Society.
I support the American Battlefield Trust, the Shenandoah Valley Battlefield Foundation and Save the Franklin Battlefield organization.
My primary factor in CW giving is: what are the administrative and salary expenses of the charity? I don’t favor a charity that has high administrative costs and little to preservation. Is the organization top heavy? You never really know. I sorta trust the Civil War Trust because I trust its leadership and can see where the money is going. Professor Carmichael does good work with this Civil War Institute at Gettysburg College too. I have to do more research on Wounded Warriors, etc.
