Saving History Saturday: $3.3 Million for Battlefield Preservation

This week the National Park Service’s American Battlefield Protection Program announced that $3,378,437 has been awarded through Battlefield Land Acquisition Grants to preserve more than 536 acres of land in Tennessee and Virginia. The recipients are the City of Chattanooga, Tennessee, and the Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation.

The historic sites for preservation are:

  • Chattanooga Battlefield
  • Great Bridge Battlefield (Revolutionary War)
  • Piedmont Battlefield
  • Port Republic Battlefield
  • Tom’s Brook Battlefield
