Monumental Maidens at Vicksburg
I saw a wicked cool display at Vicksburg National Military Park’s visitor center this month. Since March is Women’s History Month, I thought it would be an especially appropriate time to share it:
With more than 1,400 monuments and memorials, Vicksburg is acre-per-acre the most monumented battlefield in the world, earning it the nickname “the Art Park of the World.”
Vicksburg’s monuments are quite impressive. Feels like a lot more Confederate monumentation than at Gettysburg.
