1 Response to Symposium Spotlight: Phillip Greenwalt Offers a Preview of His Presentation

  1. hi Phillip, I’m not able to attend the August symposium, but am interested in learning more about your presentation. I cover the Pratt Street riot in my biography of George Boutwell, given that George was involved in sending the 6th Mass. Regiment from Boston to Washington (George is from Groton, Mass. and knew many of the soldiers) and then followed it a few days later to DC, avoiding Baltimore and going through Annapolis Junction, to meet with Lincoln, Simon Cameron, and others, as the personal representative of Gov. John Andrew in supplying the Union with troops and supplies. I live in Columbia, MD and the book is Boutwell: Radical Republican and Champion of Democracy (WW Norton, 2025). thanks.
