Sunset Over Stonewall

Stonewall, OK 060719-sm

Sunset over Stonewall, Oklahoma, on June 7, 2019.

Yes, the town was named for Stonewall Jackson. For a neat piece about the history of the town, check out this entry on “Stonewall” from the Oklahoma Historical Society.

I took this photo last year when I was in Oklahoma for the very cool Oklahoma Civil War Symposium, sponsored by the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma and coordinated by James Finck. That same trip took me from Doaksville (site of the final Confederate surrender of the Civil War) and Fort Towson up to Oklahoma City, where I had an incredibly poignant experience at the Oklahoma City Bombing Memorial (see this post and this video).

Oklahoma was a beautiful state, and it treated me to a beautiful sunset.
