FREE ECW Podcast: Gettysburg, Civil War Gifts, and More!

I never really get to start thinking about Christmas until my fall semester wraps up. And so it is again, finally, with grading nearly done, that I’ve come to the mid-December realization that, Holy crud, I need to get some gifts!

What’s the perfect gift for the Civil War buff on your list?

I posed that question to Jim Schmick of Civil War & More, a great little bookshop at 10 South Market Street in Mechanicsburg, PA.

Jim was kind enough to offer a video tour of his shop—but for those of you who already know Jim, when you talk shop with him, you get a ton of history tales while you’re at it. So, not only does Jim talk about his store and possible gift ideas for this holiday, he also shares stories about Confederates in Pennsylvania. During the Gettysburg Campaign, the Confederate Second Corps swept through Carlisle, Mechanicsburg, Sterretts Gap, and all the way to the west of the Susquehanna River overlooking Harrisburg. Jim, who helped install interpretive signs all though the area, brims with stories.

You can find our tour/conversation on the ECW YouTube page.

We’ve taken the audio from that tour and packaged it together for you as special edition of the ECW Podcast. You can listen here for free on Patreon.
