Year in Review: 2020 New Members

In 2020, Emerging Civil War welcomed 5 new members! You’ll be hearing and seeing more from them in the new year, so if you missed their welcome posts here’s a chance to get acquainted virtually.

JoAnna M. McDonald joined ECW in the spring of 2020 and shares about her studies in military leadership and strategic command. This series is especially thought-provoking from her 2020 postings: The Civil War and General Jim Mattis

Cecily Nelson Zander joined Emerging Civil War in the early summer, bringing in-depth research on the Federal Army before and during the 1860’s. Her favorite post to write and share in 2020 is: The Second Seminole War as a Civil War Training Ground

Chris Heisey brings his photographic skills and talent to Emerging Civil War, joining in late early summer. One our favorite posts and images from his 2020 collection is: Gettysburg Bliss

David T. Dixon came onboard in early autumn, sharing his studies on Union men, enslaved and emancipation, and 19th Century politics. His favorite post of 2020 is: The Wealthiest Slave in Savannah: Rachel Brownfield and the True Price of Freedom

Jon Tracey is our newest ECW member, jumping in during the final days of 2020. Some of his research interests include soldier experience, medical care, and Civil War veterans.  His favorite piece to research and share in 2020 is: The Civilian Conservation Corps at Droop Mountain
