BREAKING NEWS: Interment of “lost” Civil War Veteran Remains in Seattle

Ceremonies began in Seattle today to honor 28 Civil War veterans and 30 spouses. The “lost” remains of cremated veterans were discovered in perpetual care but, for various reasons, had been forgotten for more than a century. The remains will be buried tomorrow in Tacoma National Cemetery in Kent, Washington. (ECW will carry the livestream of the event on our FB page.)

Richard Heisler of Civil War Seattle played an integral role in the project to honor and inter the veterans. And ECW’s Dr. Brian Matthew Jordan served as keynote speaker for the commemoration ceremony today.

They join us for an exclusive interview about today’s event and offer a preview of Thursday’s interment ceremony.

We want to offer a shout-out to the John Heckman, Tattooed Historian, who offered a livestreams today in which Richard walked viewers through a special exhibit to accompany the memorial service. The Tatooed Historian will livestream tomorrow’s ceremony, which ECW will share on our Facebook page.
