Our 1000th Post!

We reach a milestone of sorts today at Emerging Civil War: This is our 1000th post!

Bloody Angle in fogOur photo today is courtesy of Donald Pfanz, co-author of the Emerging Civil War Series’s No Turning Back: A Guide to the 1864 Overland Campaign (along with Robert Dunkerly and David Ruth). This photo of Spotsylvania’s Bloody Angle in the early morning fog appears in No Turning Back, but alas, it’s in black and white—which is a waste of this gorgeous color!

We are grateful to everyone who has made these one thousand posts possible: the many talented and insightful historians who have shared their work, the photographers who’ve shown us the battlefields, the cartographers who’ve mapped things out for us, and especially YOU, our loyal readers. We thank all those who’ve been with us since day one and all of those who’ve since joined on to follow along daily. Thank you for the privilege of sharing these stories with you.
